Mini-project: Choose one

1) Share an example (role play, record, create a video, find a clip) of two ways that spouses distribute authority. Analyze how well each distribution of authority probably works for the couple.

2) Share an example (role play, record, create a video, find a clip) of two categories of adolescent influencing strategies. Analyze how well each influence strategy is likely to work for a) reaching the immediate goal; and b) enhancing or damaging the relationship between the adolescent and the person he/she is trying to influence.

3) Share an example (role play, record, create a video, find a clip) of two styles of decision making. How effective is each example you give in a) producing an effective decision and b) creating a cohesive family?

4) Share an example (role play, record, create a video, find a clip) of two types of covert destructive conflict. Analyze the likely effects (if you can't see them in your example) of this type of conflict on the family/people involved.

Family Analysis Blogs: Choose two topics for this one.

a) analyze of one of your family member's (no need to use names) usual power bases. Which resources does he/she tend to use? which are more successful?

b) analyze what rules your family uses in conflict: list 2-3 rules and the category they belong to (i.e., governing consideration, governing specific self-expression). are these rules effective? why or why not? are there other rules you feel you should be using?

c) analyze a specific conflict that has occurred recently in your family using the elements of constructive conflict. how productive was this conflict? could you or other family members have behaved in ways to make it more productive?
