As your read Chapter 10 Dark Clouds with Silver Linings: The (Dys)Functional Ambivalence of Stepfamily Relationships
Schrodt and Braithwaite talk about three primary sources of ambivalence and stepfamilies. They discuss role ambivalence, relational and emotional ambivalence, and communicative ambivalence. Given the uncertain nature of stepfamily relationships and stepfamily development, choose one type of ambivalence and discuss what you see you as potential "coping mechanisms and resiliency behaviors that [might] enable stepfamily members to adjust to living in what is often a complex relational environment" (p 263). Be prepared to address why your coping mechanism/resiliency behavior will mitigate the particular source of ambivlance you have chosen to talk about.
